Fenian Plaque Installation

In June of 2022, to commemorate the events surrounding the Fenian Rising in Kilbaha, Kilballyowen Development, Kilbaha Gallery and Seamus Connolly Bronze Foundry and Keatings Bar came together to fund the reproduction in bronze of the original commemoration plaque which was once housed on the long since gone coastguard hut in the village of Kilbaha. The plaque was cast in bronze by Seamus in the foundry in Kilbaha and Stone sculptor Shane Gilmore sourced the beautiful limestone plinth. Shane also installed the plaque for us. The Delohery family, who are direct descendants of John Delohery, leader of the Fenian Brotherhood raid on the Kilbaha Coast Guard station in March 1867 were delighted to visit the village and view the newly installed plaque this summer.
