Work to restore the tree at the Sculpture Garden
Great work was done this past week restoring the old tree in the sculpture garden in the village. The original tree was a substantial piece of bog oak that was holding up the bronze sculptures of Diarmuid and Grainne.
Artist Shane Gilmore was commissioned to provide a new piece of wood - in this case a gorgeous and substantial piece of cedar wood, which he carved beautiful designs into, then charred and sealed so that it would remain strong and sturdy for many years to come.
Seamus, Adam, Shane, Mike and Bernie all helped get the new piece of wood in place. It’s looking great!
